Connance Enhances Solution Delivery Through Azure Cloud Migration

Overview

Connance, Inc. (now Waystar) provides predictive analytics solutions that help healthcare organizations improve financial and clinical outcomes. Their cloud-based optimization platform is central to daily operations, requiring strong performance, seamless scalability, and robust security to support customers effectively.

The Challenge

Connance’s physical server setup hosted on Rackspace was no longer meeting expectations for performance, cost efficiency, and security. The organization needed a modern cloud environment that could:

• Improve turnaround time for customer onboarding and application updates
• Provide scalable compute capacity to support changing workload demands
• Strengthen security and centralize management for mission-critical applications

With an established Microsoft ecosystem and extensive use of SQL Server, Azure naturally aligned with their technical and operational goals.

The Solution

A structured Azure migration roadmap was developed and executed to ensure a smooth, low-risk transition, implemented across three major phases:

Proof of Concept (POC):

• Conducted a detailed POC to evaluate server optimization and determine ideal VM sizing
• Demonstrated how Azure’s scalability could reduce the number of servers while improving performance

Phase 1 – Development & DR Migration:

• Migrated development, staging, disaster recovery, QA, and research environments to Azure
• Implemented isolated subnets to enhance security and protect proprietary data

Phase 2 – Production Migration:

• Transitioned all production servers from Rackspace to Azure
• Designed the Azure environment for optimized performance, security, and scalability
